Can you support Cameron’s Smile?

A special little boy is looking for extra special support from his local community to enable his family to buy vital equipment to improve his quality of life.

Read about his fundraising efforts:

CameronCameron is 8-years-old and was born with a rare genetic condition called Norrie Disease that caused blindness, hearing loss and is now affecting his mobility.

His musculoskeletal issues cause Cameron chronic pain as he awaits surgery in December or January, so a mammoth fundraising effort has begun to install a hydro pool at his home.

Despite his many challenges Cameron and his family are determined to give him the happiest most comfortable life possible – and that’s where the fundraising comes in!

His mum Carla has a Facebook page set up to share news, updates and milestones, on it she says: “He needs lifelong aftercare of hydro and physio therapy to help his muscles and pain he experiences on a daily basis. He will be in casts for about six weeks, maybe longer, then after that he’ll be able to get in the water – it’s just an amazing sensory experience for him too.”

The family has already reached their milestone of £1,500 and are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support, but there’s still a long way to go!

The hydro spa will cost £22,000 to install and that’s with a generous reduction of £3,000 from Hydropool Cheltenham, as the full retail price is £25,000.

On Friday, October 15th Willow Brook hosted a coffee morning to support the fundraising efforts.

Andy Wynn, centre manager, says they’re delighted to have been able to welcome the family and support the charity. “Willow Brook has always been at the heart of the local community and it’s a pleasure to be able to get behind this goal to buy Cameron his much-needed hydrospa.”

If you live in Bradley Stoke and walk through the nature reserve you’ll also be able to see a banner with a QR code that enables passers-by to donate.

Dad Adam is doing an abseil to donate money to the children’s hospital that have done wonderful things to support Cameron. “He’s my son and my hero for the things he goes through and conquers every day. Please give what you can, no matter how little, it all makes a difference.”

As well as football scratch cards, Aztec Hotel and Spa is supporting the fundraising efforts by inviting people to collect tokens at their coffee shop. If enough tokens are raised the hotel will donate £150 towards the charity and have also gifted raffle prizes. Carla says: “It’s so lovely to see the community getting together.”
