Ending homelessness in Bristol

We recently welcomed the fantastic team at St Mungo’s to Willow Brook.

Here’s more information on this vital charity.

St Mungo’s exists to end homelessness and rebuild lives.

It runs more than 20 services in Bristol including the Bristol Outreach team, various accommodation for both men and women (including a new project for women who have experienced violence), mental health floating support, and the Bristol Recovery College, providing individual support to people who are or have been homeless.

mungosTheir vital work supports people in three main areas:

Emergency

Our outreach teams go out every night to help people sleeping rough.

Accommodation

They provide a bed and specialist support to 256 people in the South West every single night of the year.

Recovery

Their Recovery College provides links to employment via courses in literacy, construction and digital skills. We support people to manage physical and mental health issues which cause homelessness.

In the South West, St Mungo’s supports 256 people every night, and the Bristol Outreach team supported 881 people with no fixed abode.

Work in the pandemic

St Mungo’s was a leading partner in the Everyone In response across Bristol and the south of England. In the first six months of the pandemic, they:

  • Helped more than 964 people across Bristol, Bath, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole to safely self-isolate in hotel rooms
  • Supported more than 357 of these people to secure move-on accommodation
